Labor Day Weekend Celebration
Celebrate Labor Day weekend in Storm Lake! Bring the whole family to beautiful Chautauqua Park along Lakeshore Drive on Sunday, September 4th. Enjoy the view of the lake while taking in the Hy-Noon Kiwanis Classic Car Show, the "Jump Right In" & Run Event, arts and crafts, games, and all 'round family fun! There will be plenty of food available, too, hosted by Santa's Castle & the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor.
The Hy-Noon Kiwanis Car Show registration is from 9:00am-12:00pm with the "Show and Shine" taking place from 10:00am-3:00pm with classic rock and roll music in the background. The classic automobiles will compete for awards in several classes with the presentation of trophies and awards set for 3:00pm. Admission to the car show is a suggested donation of $3 for adults and is free for children under 10. Car show sponsors are Rasmussen Ford, Fitzpatrick Auto Center, Bob's Garage and Auto Sales, De Anda's Auto Sales, and Mickelson Tire is the trophy sponsor. The "Jump Right In" & Run event features a Half-Marathon, Half-Marathon Relay and a 5K starting at 7:30am. The race starts and finishes at King's Pointe Waterpark Resort. To register, go to stormlakerunningclub.com.
In addition to the car show & "Jump Right In" & Run Event, there will be much more to see and do. Santa's Castle will be serving a meal from 11:00am-4:00pm, which consists of a turkey fillet, bratwursts, hot dogs, chips, dessert & and drink. From 12:00-4:00pm, there will be entertainment and demonstrations by Universal Kenpo Karate. Starting at 12:00pm, there will be a performance by Barbara Johnson. Johnson will play 70's Blues until 2:00pm. There will also be old fashioned carnival games all day long with a Balloon clown, pony rides, arts and crafts fair, pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatables, mini golf, and much more!
